An enduring symbol of the West, this Buffalo wire sculpture by Katy Hass reminds us of our Colorado heritage. These monstrous creatures once roamed the Great Plains and can still be found just outside of Denver at a mountain park. The Buffalo is a splendid addition to Western décor or as a gift for that Colorado University fan.

The Buffalo is 11 inches from tip of the tail to end of the nose. It stands 6.75 inches tall. Each Buffalo is hand-crafted by Katy, so the size may vary slightly.

Katy’s wire sculptures are made by first creating a contour drawing of the image (a sketch where the pencil is never lifted from the paper) thereby making a continuous line. After the drawing is complete, 20, 22 and 24 gauge black wire is manipulated, using the contour drawing as a guide, to make the sculptures. Depending on the design, a continuous piece of wire may be used to create the sculpture.
